Men's Golf Completes First Day of Pac-10 Tournament

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Washington State men's golf team completed the opening day of the Pacific-10 Conference Championship Monday. The Cougars will enter day two in 10th place with a two-round total of 722 (+12).

Nick Grigsby, a senior who has been in and out of the lineup all year, is leading the way for the Cougars. The Spokane, Wash., native went one-over-par during the morning round and one-under during the afternoon to finish with a 142 (E, T-31st)

Sophomore Trent Sanders is second for the WSU team, finishing with a first-day total of 144 (+2), good enough for a share of 40th place. Sanders made up ground on the long holes, going four-under on the six par-5 holes, including an eagle at the 581-yard 17th during his first round.

Kevin Tucker and Nick Ellis finished the day in 47th and 50th respectively. Tucker fired a 72 (+1) in the opening round and followed it up with a 73 during the afternoon. Ellis carded a 146 (+4), highlighted by a second-round 71.

Senior Austin Hurt and freshman Hank Frame closed out the WSU lineup with first-day totals of 147 and 152, respectively.
