WASHINGTON STATE NOTES

With 469 passing yards against the Aztecs, senior quarterback Alex Brink moved into third place on the Cougars' all-time list, passing Drew Bledsoe and Ryan Leaf...with five touchdown passes, Brink moved into third place on the WSU all-time list, passing Jack Thompson...Cougar quarterbacks have now thrown touchdown passes in 70 of the last 74 games.

Brink's 469 yards passing ranks third all time...has three of the top nine passing marks in WSU history...his five touchdown passes tied a career high...Brink has now thrown touchdown passes in 28 games over the course of his career, tying him with Jack Thompson.

Brink threw for 304 yards in the first half, the first time in his career that he has thrown for over 300 yards in a half...since 2002, no other WSU quarterback has thrown for over 300 yards in the first half (records on hand do not go back farther than 2002).

Washington State had three receivers post more than 100 yards receiving (Bumpus-118, Dillon-100 and Gibson-116) for the first time since Sept. 28, 2002 at California (Jerome Riley-139, Devard Darling-109 and Mike Bush-125).

Michael Bumpus' 118 yards receiving marks the third game of his career in which he has eclipsed 100 yards in a game...the last time he recorded more than 100 receiving yards was against USC, Sept. 30, 2006...his 10 receptions were the most since hauling in 11 passes against USC in 2006.

With 45 points scored against the Aztecs, the Cougars have now scored in 263 consecutive games...WSU has not been shut out in a game since 1984 against Ohio State (44-0)...the 45 points are the most since scoring 56 against Idaho in 2006 (Sept. 9).

With his sack of quarterback Kevin O'Connell on the game's opening drive, junior college transfer Kendrick Dunn has recorded sacks in each of his first two games as a Cougar.

Sophomore running back Dwight Tardy's second quarter one-yard touchdown run was the fifth touchdown of his career and the first time he has had touchdown in consecutive games (also had 9-yard touchdown run last week at Wisconsin).

Jed Collins caught his fourth career touchdown pass with a 3-yard catch from Brink in the third quarter...his five receptions set a career high.

The Cougars scored 31 consecutive points against the Aztecs, the most since scoring 35 straight against Idaho, Sept. 9, 2006 at Martin Stadium.

Junior wide receiver Brandon Gibson had 116 yards receiving against San Diego State, the fourth 100-yard receiving game of his career.

COUGAR FIRSTS

Freshman safety Alfonso Jackson recorded the first interception of his career with 52 seconds left in the first quarter against the Aztecs...the interception was also the first of the season for the Cougar defense.

Both Ben Woodard (18-yard) and Jeshua Anderson (39-yard) caught their first career touchdown passes, Saturday.

Wide receiver Charles Dillon had his first career 100-yard game Saturday against the Aztecs...his 100 yards eclipsed his previous career-high of 40 yards (against Washington in 2006)...his eight receptions are also a career high.

Kevin Kooyman recorded his first multiple sack game with 2.0 sacks against the Aztecs...Kooyman entered the game with one career sack.

Linebacker Greg Trent posted double-digit tackles for the second consecutive game this season with 13...his career high is 14.

Toby Turpin recorded his first career sack against the Aztecs.
