RS-JUNIOR (2009): Earned a varsity letter after appearing in 10 games...started six games on the season...recorded 28 tackles in the season (19 solo), the most by a Cougar interior lineman...also had three tackles-for-loss, and tied for the team high with two sacks...recovered two fumbles, recorded one quarterback hurry and had one pass break-up...blocked a kick in back-to-back weeks against California and Notre Dame...the blocked field goal against the Golden Bears was the first by a Cougar in five seasons...the last time a Cougar blocked multiple kicks in a season was in 2004 (Cody Boyd, 3; Erik Coleman, 4)...season-high five tackles (all solo) against the Fighting Irish...also had four tackles in four games.
RS-SOPHOMORE (2008): Earned a varsity letter after appearing in 12 games...started each of season's last four games, including his first career start against Arizona...recorded 20 tackles on the season (12 solo), including 3.5 tackles-for-loss and three sacks - all of which were career highs...blocked a kick against Stanford...had his first career multiple-sack game against Arizona State, totaling nine yards...following game received WSU's "Big Play" Award...registered a career-high four tackles against Washington...had two tackles and a sack at Hawaii.
RS-FRESHMAN (2007): Played in four of WSU's 12 games...registered four tackles on the season (two solo)...recorded two tackles against San Diego State, including his first career tackle-for-loss...intercepted his first career pass against USC and returned it 30 yards.
FRESHMAN (2006): Redshirt season.
TURPIN'S HIGH SCHOOL CAREER
Coached by John Barnes, earning three varsity letters...also played baseball as a freshman, but then chose to concentrate on football...JUNIOR year team finished 12-2...made 63 tackles and eight sacks as team reached the CIF Championship game after winning league title...also added two fumble recoveries and a blocked kick...was Los Alamitos High's Rookie of the Year...one of only two starting juniors...as a SENIOR registered 58 tackles, 10 tackles-for-loss, nine sacks, five pass break-ups, two interceptions and four forced fumbles...named Sunset League Defensive Lineman of the Year and received first-team all-county honors...named a Rivals.com 2006 Super Sleeper...named to Long Beach Press-Telegram's Dream Team...school's defensive player of the year...team finished 8-3 and reached the first round of the playoffs after finishing third in the league standings.
