SEATTLE (AP) - Giuliana Mendiola scored 20 points and had five steals as No.
25 Washington defeated Washington State 73-49 Saturday.
The Huskies (21-6, 13-5 Pac-10) opened the game on an 11-0 run. During that
span, the Cougars (2-25, 1-17 Pac-10) committed four turnovers and missed three
shots. The Huskies later led 26-9 on back-to-back 3-pointers by Loree Payne and
Cheryl Sorenson.
Washington State went almost seven minutes without a field goal and finished
with more turnovers (18) than first-half points (17).
Bianca McCall led the Cougars with 20 points and Candace Fields added 13.
Washington State shot a dismal 23 percent on 4-of-17 shooting in the first half
and 32 percent for the game.
Andrea Lalum added 13 points and Emily Autrey had 12 points and three
steals. Washington set a season-high with 24 steals.
Washington finished the season 14-0 at home, their best such mark since the
1988-89 season, which had 13 straight home wins.
The Huskies will be the second seed in the Pac-10 tournament, which begins
March 7 in San Jose.
