PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) - Junior point guard Marcus Moore scored 22 points and
grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds as Washington State beat Fresno State 69-66
on Monday night.
Moore went 4-for-16 from the field and 12-for-17 from the free-throw line.
He also had eight assists for the Cougars (5-4).
Jonathan Woods led the Bulldogs (6-2) with 18 points, while Damon Jackson
added 12 points. But Jackson missed a 3-point attempt in the final seconds.
Five points or less separated the teams virtually the entire game.
The Bulldogs, who trailed the final 26 minutes, had 23 turnovers to
Washington State's 18. Fresno State was 5-for-9 at the free-throw line,
compared to 20-for-28 for the Cougars.
Fresno State's quick, athletic big men dominated in the paint. Fresno State
hit just five of 20 3-pointers, however. Washington State made seven of 21 from
3-point range.
The Cougars finished nonconference play with a winning record for the 16th
consecutive season. During that span, Washington State has posted winning
records in the Pac-10 only twice, with three other .500 marks.
The Cougars have finished last in the Pac-10 four of the past five years.
