Dr. Wilbur “Doc” Bohm was a pioneer in sports medicine and one of the world’s leading athletic trainers for nearly half a century. He wrote books on the subject and filmed a 1941 documentary about charley horses and sprained ankles. He was a founding member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and was inducted to the organization’s hall of fame in 1962. In 1926, Bohm came to WSC as an athletic trainer and the coach of the weights events for the track team. In 1932, he was one part of the first athletic training squad to serve a U.S. Olympic team, one of five Olympics he worked. Bohm also worked with MLB and NFL teams.
