For the fourth consecutive year, Washington State University Athletics, in partnership with Special Olympics Washington, served as host of the Special Olympics East Regional Basketball Tournament, Saturday at the Bohler Athletic Complex, Physical Education Building and Smith Gym on the WSU campus.
WSU Student-Athlete Development Department and SAAC (Student-Athlete Advisory Committee) spearheaded the university’s efforts in lending support to the event. More than 200 WSU student-athletes, staff, and members of the Pullman community served as volunteers.
The tournament featured approximately 500 athletes, one of four throughout the state, in three divisions (junior, ages 8-15; senior, ages 16-21; and master, ages 22 and up). The winners of each division advanced to play the winners of each of the other three regions at the winter games in Wenatchee, March 4-6.
