Klay Thompson Returns to WSU

Klay Thompson of the NBA Champion Golden State Warriors returned to Washington State University this past weekend.
And he brought a special guest with him, the Larry O'Brien NBA Championship Trophy.
It was a busy weekend for the Cougar basketball great.
Once he arrived to campus Friday afternoon, Thompson met with Director of Athletics Bill Moos.

Then he walked to Beasley Coliseum to talk with the men's basketball team.

He also found time to work on his shooting.

After meeting wiht the men's basketball team, Thompson walked over to the Cougar Football Complex to talk with the football team and signed some autographs along the way.

Thompson then made his way to a reception for Cougar Athletic Fund members in the Rankich Club Room at Martin Stadium. Thompson signed more autographs and posed for pictures with the Larry O'Brien Trophy.

He also spoke to the CAF members and talked about how much Washington State means to him.

"I would not be where I'm at without Washington State," Thompson said during his speech. "I'm very thankful for Washington State. Being a Coug is special. I really embrace being a Coug."
The current members of the men's basketball team did not pass up the opportunity to take a selfie with the trophy.

And photos with Klay.

The next day at Martin Stadium, Thompson raised the Cougar flag prior to kickoff.

Heard the cheers of WSU students.

Took time out for an interview with Ashley Adamson of the Pac-12 Networks.

Showcased the Larry O'Brien Trophy on the Martin Stadium field.

And gave the students in CrimZone an up close look at the trophy.

During his three-year career at WSU from 2008 to 2011, Thompson averaged 17.9 points per game, including 21.6 points a game in 2011, when he led the Pac-10 and ranked 11th in the nation in scoring.
Thank you Klay for returning to WSU and bringing the Larry O'Brien Trophy with you!
Go Cougs!
