Sagdal Drafted in 16th Round by Washington

PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State infielder Ian Sagdal was selected in the 16th round of the 2015 Major League Baseball Draft by the Washington Nationals Wednesday.

As a senior in 2015, Sagdal led the Cougars in batting average (.298), home runs (6), RBI (34), doubles (13), runs scored (35) and stolen bases (13), becoming the first player in more than 20 years to lead the team in all of those categories. He also tied for second in the Pac-12 Conference with five triples and was ninth with a .498 slugging percentage. The 2015 All-Pac-12 Conference honorable mention infielder saw time at all four infield positions in his four years with the Cougars but played mostly second base as senior, fielding at a .982 clip. In conference play this season, Sagdal led WSU with four homers, five doubles and 12 RBI.

Sagdal, taken as the No. 494 overall pick, finished his career with 199 games played, 169 hits, 27 doubles, six home runs, 82 RBI, 87 runs scored and a .271 batting average.
