PULLMAN - Washington State volleyball Head Coach Jen Greeny and her staff will hold several camps for players of all abilities this summer in Pullman.
The Cougar Volleyball Youth Camp is for elementary school children entering first through sixth grades, and will be held June 13-14, from 9-11:30 a.m. each day. This day camp provides a fun opportunity for beginners to learn the basics and fundamentals of the game including passing, hitting, and setting. The Youth Camp cost is $60 per child.
The Cougar Volleyball Individual All-Skills Camp is open to those entering grades seven through 12, and will be held July 7-10. The Individual All-Skills Camp offers the highest level of training to experienced players and all around fundamentals for beginning players. The camp is designed to expose campers to the collegiate practice environment. This camp provides a great opportunity for athletes to raise their skill level in a highly competitive setting and get a chance to see what it is like to play at Washington State University. At this camp players have the opportunity to specialize in a position, if they desire, within groups based on skill level and experience. Campers at the Individual All-Skills Camp pay $350 for overnight accommodations and all meals, while commuters with meals (two lunches and three dinners) pay $295 and commuters with no meals pay $245.
"My daughter had a great time. She enjoyed the entire experience with great coaches and players from all over. She improved her skills and has been looking forward to going back since we picked her up!"
Joey Nestegard, a parent from Pullman Wash.
Participants at the Individual All-Skills Camp also have the opportunity to purchase an individual video analysis. Small group and individual video analysis by WSU Head Coach Jen Greeny and the WSU volleyball staff will provide analysis of individual performance and focus on skill technique and mechanics. Each camper will receive verbal and written evaluations. Session I will include setters and defensive specialists and Session II will be for hitters. Cost for the video analysis is $50 per session.
The Cougar Volleyball High School Team Camp and Team Tournament will run July 10-13. The High School Team Camp is designed to give high school teams the opportunity to practice together in a collegiate atmosphere. Competition is the focus of the camp but it also includes individual attention from the WSU staff and players and the camp concludes with the High School Team Tournament. Cost is $315 per player and includes overnight accommodations and all meals. One coach participates free with a team of at least eight registered players.
High school teams wishing to participate only in the Cougar Volleyball Camp Team Tournament, July 12-13, will be charged $500 per team for the commuter with meals (one dinner, one lunch) package, or $800 per team for the overnight with meals (one dinner, one breakfast, one lunch) package.
"Our players and coaching staff had the most awesome experience at the Cougar Volleyball Team Camp. We have been to many camps. I let our seniors choose each summer where we go to camp and they happened to pick WSU this year. What a great choice! The coaching staff is so personal and did such a phenomenal job."
Tana Otton, head coach at Tumwater High School.
WSU Summer Satellite Camps are also available with limited dates available in June and July of 2013. High school players work on individual skills of passing, defense, attacking, setting, blocking and serving while team work on offense and defense systems. The Satellite Camps take place at a local school with that school's nets and balls. Cost is $100-$150 per athlete depending on the desired camp hours and there is a minimum requirement of 30 campers.
