Cougar Runners Nab Second-Place Finishes at Bulldog Invitational

SPOKANE, Wash. -- Washington State's Chris Charles and Crystal Malgesini
placed second individually in their respective races while leading the
Cougar cross country teams to a pair of second-place showings Saturday at
the Bulldog Invitational.
The Community Colleges of Spokane swept both races held at Finch Arboretum.
CCS led the men's team scoring with 20 points, followed by WSU with 37
points and host Gonzaga with 80. In the women's race, CCS led with 26
points, WSU had 35 and Gonzaga 66.
Charles, a Cougar sophomore from Bainbridge Island, Wash., was the runner-up
as he crossed 26 seconds behind Shawn Beitlespacher of CCS who won the men's
four-mile race with a time of 21 minutes, 37 seconds.
Erika Colin of CCS clocked a winning time of 16:16 in the women's 2.5-mile
race, 15 seconds ahead of Malgesini, who made her WSU debut.
