PULLMAN, Wash. (Nov. 20, 2024) -- The NCAA released the latest Division I graduation rate data, including the division's Graduation Success Rate (GSR), which included a score of 91 percent for Washington State Athletics, tying the program-best mark set in 2022.
Â
For the most recent data (2014-17), WSU had six sport programs, men's basketball, soccer, tennis, volleyball, along with women's and men's golf, all record perfect multi-year GSR scores of 100. It marked the seventh-straight year men's golf recorded a perfect score while the women's program posted its sixth consecutive and men's basketball it's fifth-straight score of 100. In all, 11 of WSU's 15 programs remained constant or improved over last year's score.
Â
Cougar Athletics also saw great improvement in the single-year GSR scores for the majority of its teams, with 10 programs -- baseball, men's and women's basketball, women's cross country, men's and women's golf, soccer, tennis, women's track and volleyball -- recording perfect single-year scores of 100.
Â
Washington State's most recent GSR score continues a trend that has seen the Cougars improve their score in eight of the past nine years. Dating back to 2008 when WSU's GSR score was 77 percent, sustained improvement has been seen over the past 16 years, including matching its program-best score this year.
Â
The GSR includes student-athletes who received athletic aid and enrolled at Washington State as freshmen or transfer students between 2014-17, and completed their degree within six years.
