PULLMAN, Wash. (June 30, 2023) – Four Washington State women's swimmers are set to compete in international competitions this summer.

Three current Cougars have been selected to compete at the World University Games in China as
Noelle Harvey and
Emily Lundgren will represent Team USA while
Dori Hathazi will swim for Team Hungary. Incoming freshman Mira Szimcsak will represent Team Hungary at the World Championships in Japan (July 15-20).

Harvey and Lundgren are among 18 athletes selected for the women's team who will represent Team USA at The World University Games in Chengdu, China that was initially scheduled to run in August 2021, but was postponed multiple times due to the pandemic and will now run from July 28 – August 8, 2023.

Harvey took a leap forward as a sophomore this past season, posting five individual wins including wins in the 500 free over California and Utah, along with four WSU Top-10 times and helped three different relay team set school records. The Carlsbad, Calif. native was recently named the teams Cougar Award for her work in the classroom, the community and pool. Harvey closed out her season with a CSCAA NIC championship in the 400 free relay.

Lundgren had a record-setting freshman campaign, qualifying for the NCAA Championships in both the 100 and 200 breast after finishing third at the Pac-12 Conference Championships in the 200 Breast. The Chula Vista, Calif. native paced the team with 11 individual wins during the regular season, owns three WSU Top-10 times including school records in the 100 breast and 200 breast along with Gibb Pool records in the 100 breast and 200 breast. Lundgren was one of two WSU freshmen swimmers to earn a trip the NCAA's, the first freshmen to make the NCAA Championships.

Hathazi will be one of the eight swimmers representing Hungary at the World University Games and will competing in the butterfly events and potentially relays. Hathazi's performance at the Sopron Open earlier this month, where she was the gold medalist in the 200 Fly and Silver Medalist in the 100 fly earned her a spot on the roster.Â

Szimcsak was one of the six swimmers selected to represent Team Hungary at the World Championships in Japan (July 15-20). Szimcsak was selected to represent Hungary after placing eighth overall and second for the Hungarian team at the World Aquatics Open Water World Cup in Portugal back in May.Â
