AUGUSTA, Ga. (October 9, 2023) – Washington State punter Nick Haberer was named among the Ray Guy Award Ray's 8 of the Week, given to the nation's top eight punters of the week.

The Ray Guy Award honors the nation's top collegiate punter in the FBS. Haberer was named to watch list prior to the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Haberer, a junior from Sunshine Coast, Australia, had an impressive performance at UCLA last Saturday, posting career-highs with nine punts, an average for 44.9 yards-per-punt, five were fair caught with four inside the 20. Through five games this season, Haberer is third in the Pac-12 averaging 44.17 yards-per-punt with seven inside the 20.
 
About the Ray Guy Award
The Augusta Sports Council created the Ray Guy Award in 2000 to honor Thomson, Georgia native and College and Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee, Ray Guy. Among the statistics used to identify the winner is net punting average, number of times punt is downed or kicked out of bounds inside the opponents 20-yard line, total yardage punted, average returned yardage and percentage of punts not returned with particular emphasis placed on net punting average. The winner must display team leadership, self-discipline and have a positive impact on the team's success.
