PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State tennis' Michaela Bayerlova and women's golf's Darcy Habgood have been named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for February 2022.
The Cougs' No. 1 player since coming to WSU, Bayerlova is a fifth-year data analytics major with minors in materials science and engineering, mathematics, statistics. On the court she has been nearly unbeatable in the new year having posted a 4-1 record in five complete matches with two more going unfinished. He play earned her a world ranking of 522. Off the court, Bayerlova is a three-time WSU All-Academic honoree and a conference all-academic honor roll honoree. He earned the ITA NW Region Community Service Award in 2020 as well as a Cougar Sports Award in the same year. She has volunteered many times over with Circles of Caring, Tennis Clinics, Butch's Bash, Coug Pals while also picking up a summer interneship with CADENAS, a leading software developer in Germany.
The top golfer on the women's team, Habgood has posted a 3.71 gpa as a strategic Comm-PR major with a minor in sport management. She has been a PAC counselor and has volunteered with her team to clean up the streams in Pullman. She has spent time helping with Butch's bash and has made warm clothes for the humane society. On the course, Habgood has posted a scoring average of just over 74.5 with her best finish of the season so far coming at the Badger Invitational where she closed inside the top-20.
