PULLMAN, Wash. – On a night the Cougars' (6-3-3, 2-2-3) offense struggled to find its footing the defense found a new level of excellence led by keeper Marissa Zucchetto as the senior turned away a career-high 13 shots en route to a 0-0, 2OT, draw with #22 Washington (9-3-3, 5-3-3) Friday night at Lower Soccer Field. The 13 saves for Zucchetto marked the first double-digit save performance for a WSU keeper since all-time great Ella Dederick made 11 saves against Colorado Oct. 11, 2015 and tied for the fourth most in program history. Throughout the contest, Zucchetto came up with the plays when the Cougars needed them most turning away a handful of strong efforts by UW's attacking front as well as corralling the more ambitious attempts made by the visiting Huskies. While Zucchetto and her defenders kept the score sheet clean, the Cougars' attack looked to use their speed to counter punch. Making plays over the top, the Cougs got behind the Huskies' backline on multiple occasions only to fall short on their final touch holding the attack back. Despite the struggles, the Cougs would have a few chances to get on the board only to see their best effort by freshman Margie Detrizio cleared off the line by a Husky defender in the in the 72' while a golden goal chance by senior Elyse Bennett drifted just wide in the 99'.

Senior Marissa Zucchetto posted a career-high 13 saves, the most for a Cougar keeper since Natalie McDowell posted 18 against UCSB Oct. 8, 1993.
