Brandon Arconado and quarterback
Gage Gubrud were each named to the National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame 2020 NFF Hampshire Honor Society, it was announced Wednesday.

"We are pleased to honor another impressive group of athletes as part of this year's Hampshire Honor Society," said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. "For more than a decade, the Hampshire Honor Society has served as a powerful vehicle for schools to recognize their college football players who have distinguished themselves both academically and athletically, and we congratulate the schools and each of these young men for their commitment to excellence in all aspects of their lives."

Arconado holds a bachelor's degree in management information systems and is working towards his master's degree in business administration. The Chino Hills, Calif. was a 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team selection, the first Academic All-America selection at WSU since Chima Nwachukwu earned second-team honors in 2010 and the first Cougar to be a first-team honoree since Jason Hanson in 1991. On the field, Arconado led the Pac-12 with seven 100-yard games receiving, tied for the most in WSU single-season history, was fifth in the conference with 78 catches, fourth with a team-high 1,109 receiving yards, led the team with 14.2 yards-per-catch and was second on the squad with seven touchdown receptions.

Gubrud transferred to WSU prior to the 2019 season following a stellar career at Eastern Washington. Possession a management degree from EWU, Gubrud is in the process of receiving his master's degree in business administration. This season he appeared in only two games backing up
Anthony Gordon, completing 10 of 13 passes for 89 yards and a touchdown. At EWU, he went 21-7 as a starter, throwing for 9,984 passing yards, 87 touchdowns and was the 2016 FCS Player of the Year.

The Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college careers. An impressive 1,432 players from 364 schools qualified for membership in the Society's 14th year.

Nominated by their respective schools, members of the NFF Hampshire Honor Society must have:
- Completed their final year of playing eligibility in 2019;
- Graduated players, who have remaining eligibility but will not return to collegiate play (e.g. declared for NFL Draft or retired from football), may also be nominated.
- Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade point average throughout entire course of undergraduate study;
- Met all NCAA- or NAIA-mandated progress toward degree requirements; and
- Been starters or significant contributors throughout the 2019 season.
