PULLMAN, Wash. - The Washington State women's golf team will open their 2019-20 season in the WSU Cougar Cup on September 16-17 at Palouse Ridge Golf Course. The home tournament kicks off the WSU's season schedule that features eight regular season tournaments and one match play event before the Pac-12 Championship at Stanford.

"We are very excited about our competitive schedule for the upcoming season," said head coach Kelli Kamimura. "Our focus is on getting 'one day better every day' and we have worked hard to put a schedule together that allows us to compete against the best teams in the country."

"We are looking forward to starting our fall season at home with the Cougar Cup. It is always fun to compete at home and showcase how lucky we are to call Palouse Ridge Golf Club, WSU & Pullman home!"

The Cougars' home tournament, which began in 2008, returns after a one year hiatus as teams around the country come to Pullman in preparation of the NCAA Regional WSU will host in the fall. Two seasons ago the Cougars took home the tournament title for the sixth time in Cougar Cup history, fending off Sacramento State by six strokes to take the top spot. After playing host, the Cougars do not stray far from home in week two as WSU heads up the road to Coeur D'Alene, ID, to compete in the CDA Resort Collegiate Invitational at CDA Resort hosted by Gonzaga to close out September.

The only tournament for WSU in October is the Stanford Intercollegiate on October 11-13 at the Stanford Golf Course. The three-day tournament will give the Cougars a chance to play the course the 2020 Pac-12 Championships will be played on as all work throughout the year has an eye on the annual event. While the Stanford Intercollegiate gives the Cougs a chance to see the championship's course the final event of the fall gives WSU a chance to look at its conference competition as the team will travel to Kailua-Kona, HI, to compete in the Nanea Pac-12 Preview, November 4-6, hosted by University of Hawai'i. This is the first of two tournaments between the two this season.

After breaking for the winter, the Cougars return to the course in February to tee off the spring portion of the season. The first event of the new calendar year pits the Cougars against San Diego State at the SDSU Lamkin Match Play event, Feb. 10-11, at the Farms Golf Club in San Diego, Calif. Each of the last two years the Cougars have begun the spring season with a match play event, defeating Oregon and Colorado State.

To begin tournament play, the Cougars will travel to San Luis Obispo, Calif., to compete in the Bruin/Wave International hosted by UCLA and Pepperdine on February 24-25 at the San Luis Obispo Country Club. To begin March, WSU heads back to Fairfax, Calif. to play in the Meadow Club Invitational, returning to the tournament after a one-year absence. The two-day event is hosted by San Francisco March 9-10. Following the trip to California the Cougars jump on a plane and head back to Hawaii for the second time on the year, this time hitting the island of Maui for the Avenue Spring Breack Classic. The three-day tournament, hosted by Hawai'i, takes on Kapalua Bay Course and its scenic 17th hole that forces golfers to play their shot over the ocean waters.

The Cougars close out the regular season competing in the Silverado Showdown, hosted by Colorado and Oregon, in Napa, Calif. at the Silverado Resort Golf Course. WSU has closed its season at the annual event each of the last three seasons, closing the books on the regular season before heading to the Pac-12 Championships. This season's championships send the Cougars and the rest of the conference back to Stanford as the Cardinal's home course plays host to the three-day event, April 23-25.

In addition to playing, the Cougars will host the NCAA Regionals May 11-13 back at the Palouse Ridge Golf Course. Last season the men hosted the event leading into the NCAA Championships. For the women's side, the championships will be held May 22-27 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
