PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington States football's Travell Harris and swimming's Taylor McCoy have been named the Academic Services Student- Athletes of the Month for December 2019.
Academically a junior, Travell Harris has been a standout both on and off the field in pursuit of his degree in sport management with a minor in business. In his first year of eligibility, Harris earned Pac-12 all-academic honors last season and carries a 3.36 GPA through two and a half years at WSU. In addition to his academics, Harris has helped with the Drew Bledsoe Cougar Legends Golf Tournament, attended the Black Student-Athlete Summit, spoke at the Crimson and Gray Gala as well as in front of the WSU Alumni Association. On the field, he was a 2018 All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention as a kick returner and a preseason All-Pac-12 honoree coming into the year. In 11 games in 2019, Harris averaged 24.7 yards per return while adding a career-best five receiving touchdown through the air.
A hometown junior from Pullman, Taylor McCoy has been one of the best in the pool for the Cougars while also earning First Team Pac-12 All-Academic honors last season as a sophomore. A political science major with minors in sport management and history, McCoy has sported a 3.87 GPA in her two and a half years at WSU. Her work in the classroom not only garnered conference all-academic honors is also earned her CSCAA Scholar All-America recognition as a sophomore. Outside of her classwork, McCoy has also been active as a PAC Counselor as well as a CougPal. In the pool, McCoy has excelled in multiple events including clocking the second-fastest time in program history in the 200 Back as a sophomore. McCoy has twice swam her way into the Olympic Trails with her performance in the pool.
Each month Washington State Academic Services will honor a male and female student-athlete that demonstrates commitment to academics while participating in their sport.
