NEW ORLEANS (Oct. 24, 2019) – Washington State quarterback
Anthony Gordon was named to the 2019 Manning Award Watch List, the Allstate Sugar Bowl announced Thursday.
Gordon entered the week leading the country in passing yards (2,918), passing yards/g (425.9), total offense/g (431.1) and tied for the national lead in passing touchdowns (29). The redshirt-senior from Pacifica, Calif. is also tied for eighth in the country in completion percentage (40.9), owns a national-best six 300-yard games including five 400-yard efforts and has been named one of the Manning Award Stars of the Week four times.
The Manning Award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that includes the candidates' bowl performances in its balloting.
Finalists for the honor will be determined by a selected panel of national media covering college football, as well as each of the Mannings. That list will be released on Thursday, December 5 and the winner is scheduled to be announced following the College Football Playoff National Championship in New Orleans on January 13.
Gordon has also been named to The Maxwell Award Watch List for the nation's top offensive player.
