PULLMAN, Wash. – Led by a hat trick by junior Morgan Weaver, Washington State soccer (12-5-1, 5-5-1), came out victorious in a heated rivalry match with Washington (8-10-1, 3-8-0) in the Boeing Apple Cup Series Friday night. From the outset Weaver was in control of the game for the Cougars as the star junior found the back of the net for the first time in the 11' on what would be the first of nine shots on goal for WSU. Taking a ball from Hanna Goff on the left side of the box, Weaver cut back to the middle a ripped a shot center frame, over the top of Huskies' keeper to put WSU up early. After missing a handful of chances to extend the lead in the first half, Weaver came up with the eventual game-winner for the Cougs in the 62' as she forced a mistake by the Huskies' defense and cleaned up the loose ball in front of an empty net for her second goal of the night. The Huskies would draw within one just one minute later on a fine individual effort by Pascale Dumesnil who knifed through the center of the field and fired a shot from 22 yards out for the goal. With the game getting out of hand and tempers flaring the Coug' star put the match away for good in the 88' with a 90-yard sprint off a perfect outlet pass by senior Maddy Haro. With the ball blasted down field, Weaver out ran the Huskies' center backs and one-touched it by the keeper before tapping home her third and final goal of the night.

Things You Need To Know

The Cougs' finished the regular season with a 2-0-1 record in their final three games to improve to 12-5-1 on the year.
Morgan Weaver produced her second-career hat-trick (first since North Dakota State, Sept. 4, 2016) to finish the regular season with 12 goals to finish tied for second scoring in the Pac-12. She scored five goals and posted two assists in the final three games of the season.
Weaver's game-winning goal was her 10th career winner, third most all-time in WSU history. Her fifth multi-goal game moved her into a tie for fifth all-time. Additionally, Weaver has 27 career goals, fifth most all-time.
Maddy Haro's 13th assist of the season moved the senior into a tie for 10th all-time in Pac-12 single-season history, moving on to a list with some of the greatest players in collegiate soccer history. Additionally, the senior has 20 career assists, the third Cougar to reach the 20 assist mark in program history. She sits tied for second all-time, three behind the all-time career record.
There were five cards given in the game including a red card to Makamae Gomera-Stevens forcing the sophomore out of the Cougars' potential first round of the NCAA.
The Cougs await to see if they earned a spot in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. The selection show is slated for 1:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5 on NCAA.com.
