Washington State 2017-18 Cheer Squad Announced
April 01, 2017 | Spirit Squads
Tryouts were held Friday-Saturday, March 31-April 1 on the WSU campus.
PULLMAN, Wash. – After two days of tryouts and over 60 participants, the 2017-18 Washington State cheer roster has been announced, head cheer coach and spirit squad coordinator, Chis Opheim, announced Saturday.
Participants from Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California, Arizona, Montana, Utah, Alaska and Illinois vied for a spot on next season's Washington State cheer squad, Friday-Saturday, March 31-April 1 on the WSU campus. Sideline cheering, fight song, tumbling, coed stunting and interviews were all part of the tryout.
"I am very excited about this team," Opheim said. "We have great leadership returning to the team, and enthusiastic, talented newcomers joining us. I think Coug fans are going to notice the talent and energy from these young men and women, and be wowed by what we will bring to the sidelines this fall."
"We want to thank everyone who went through the tryout process." Opheim added. There was a large pool of talent to choose from this year. These are some amazing athletes who should feel very proud of their efforts to make this team. Go Cougs!"
