Mike Price Post Game Quotes
MP: That kid kicks a field goal and ties it and we go into overtime. It'd be overtime anyway and the ball would be on the one inch line and they might not get it out. I think something you probably didn't notice, but what I thought was crucial in the game, is that sun goes down and those Boise receivers had that sun in their eyes in the fourth quarter when they dropped a couple of those passes.
MP: A win at home was great for our fans. We have such loyal fans. They have a lot of patience with me. We needed to win at home and it was an exciting game for the fans to watch too. We have to win the students back. I am mostly happy for our players and coaches, we have a classy bunch of kids.
MP: The thing I'm disappointed with is probably the penalties.
MP: Boise's offensive team is going to be able to move the ball on a lot of people this year. That won't be the last time they score that many points.
On Jason going out...
MP: He wasn't okay, he was knocked a little woosy and he needed to come out.
MP: I think the most important thing and the best thing we did was in the clutch we made the plays in the end of the game to win the game in each phase of the game.
Would you compare Idaho and BSU?
MP: Yeah I could compare them, but I'm not going to. They're both good teams.
MP: I was disappointed with the number of penalties we had because we had three or four of them that were stupid penalties, after the whistle.
BSU Coach Dirk Koetter
Q: How much did it effect your team having the defense on the field so much in the first half?
DK: We have nobody to blame but ourselves on that. Our defense kept themselves on the field. That was probably the poorest tackling we've had in three years.
Q: Any BSU second-half offensive adjustments?
DK: We didn't make any adjustments. They really didn't stop our offense all day. We stopped ourselves a couple times, and we just didn't play like we're capable of playing.
Q: You said you had a good week of practice, can you put a finger on the reason for the loss?
DK: Any team walks a fine line between being over-prepared and under-prepared. Nobody has the right answer to those questions, especially coming off a bye week. From a practice standpoint, we practiced great on Wednesday and we didn't practice as good on Thursday. We didn't have that same emotion we've had. I don't know if we thought it was going to be easy after that quick (first quarter) touchdown.
Q: Mental mistakes (dropped passes and penalties)
DK: I think Washington State frustrated us today. I don't know if that was their plan to hold as long as they did in the first half. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't. I think it frustrated our defense. Our offense was moving the ball easily, and they were frustrated when they couldn't get back on the field. We have nobody to blame except ourselves. We take full responsibility for that.
Q: Was there extra pressure considering BSU has never beat a Pac-10 team?
DK: I don't think so. That was something to play for and our players talked about it, but it didn't add too much pressure playing WSU. It's not like they're going to the Rose Bowl.
Q: Containing Gesser?
DK: Every team that plays WSU says they're going to contain Jason Gesser, but saying it and doing it are two different things. We couldn't tackle him. He was fabulous. We had him pinned 10-20 times. We didn't tackle him, and he made plays when we didn't.
Q: Half time attitude?
DK: Pissed off. If we could play our game, we'd get back in it, but we didn't.
Q: How does this loss feel?
DK: This loss hurts a lot. Our players should hurt. I know our coaches hurt, our fans should hurt. This is a game we could have won, and we didn't.
Q: Any mistakes?
DK: Instead of the fake field goal, I should've gone for the field goal.
