William “Butch” Don Faller played second base for Washington State in 1947 and shortstop in 1948. Following his collegiate career, Faller spent two seasons in the Philadelphia Phillies’ organization, 1948-49, batting .288. He spent several years coaching and teaching high school in Washington State. He replaced Chuck “Bobo” Brayton as the head baseball coach at Yakima Valley College where he also was the head football coach. His baseball teams won 664 games, 11 conference titles and 18 league and regional championships. The NWAACC championship trophy is named in his honor.
