Ike Deeter

Isaac “Ike” Deeter was the first and only full-time boxing coach at Washington State. He coached Cougar boxing from 1931 until it was discontinued as a sport at Washington State in 1959, with the exception of a four-year hiatus while he served in WWII. Deeter’s 1937 squad won the national championship. Deeter’s teams won eight Pacific Coast Intercollegiate titles. His boxers captured 53 PCI individual crowns and 13 national championships. As a student-athlete in 1920s at WSC, Deeter was a Pacific Coast and Pacific Northwest amateur middleweight champion.
