Craig Ehlo was a standout guard for Washington State’s 1983 men’s basketball team that advanced to the second round of the NCAA Championship. He dished out 135 assists as a senior that year, second on the Cougar single-season list at the time. Ehlo added 59 steals, third-best in school history at the time, and helped Washington State to 23 victories, its most in 36 years. Despite being in Pullman for just two seasons, Ehlo left school ranked on the Cougar career lists for field goal percentage (fourth), steals (fourth), steals per game (fourth), assists per game (fifth) and assists (sixth). Twice, he received the Jud Heathcote Award for inspiration. Ehlo was selected in the third round of the 1983 NBA Draft by the Houston Rockets and spent 14 years as a professional. He scored nearly 7,500 points while playing for the Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Atlanta Hawks and Seattle SuperSonics. He was an inaugural member of the Pac-10 Men’s Basketball Hall of Honor, inducted in 2002, before moving into the broadcast booth and later coaching in the college ranks.
