David Fox

David Fox begins his first season with the Washington State Director of Football Operations.
 
A veteran in all aspects of program operations, Fox joined WSU after working four seasons in a similar role serving as the Director of Football Administration for the University of Nevada. Fox oversaw all aspects of the off-the-field responsibilities and activities. Duties included budget management, training table, team travel, organization of the team’s pre-season camp as well as the summer jobs program. Prior to Nevada, Fox spent three years as the director of football operations at Tulane, where he was responsible for all phases of the football team travel, management of the team’s pre-season camp, planning and organization of recruiting travel and official campus visits as well as the day-to-day operations of the football program.
 
Prior to Tulane, Fox spent two years in the commercial real estate industry in Albuquerque, N.M. Before entering private business, Fox spent 17 years in collegiate athletics and served in various positions, including media relations, marketing and advertising, academics, game management and coaching. He worked for 12 years in the University of New Mexico Athletic Department in different capacities.
 
Fox worked one season as the director of media relations for the New Mexico Bowl in 2007. He served as liaison between the media covering the event, as well as assisting National Football League scouting representatives and was responsible for weekly news releases to the bowl’s affiliate conferences-- the Western Athletic Conference, the Mountain West Conference and New Mexico Bowl Board members and sponsors. Fox also coordinated media press conferences and oversaw the press box on game day.
 
Before UNM, Fox was an academic coordinator at New Mexico from 1997-2007, where he oversaw the continuing eligibility for the Lobos’ football and women’s basketball programs. In conjunction with his academic duties, Fox also was the game management coordinator from 1998-2006. He worked as liaison to tournament officials for the 2000 NCAA Men’s Basketball West Regional and the 2002 NCAA Men’s Basketball First/Second Rounds. Fox coordinated MWC referees during football and men’s basketball games and also assisted with a variety of game day responsibilities during football home contests.
 
Fox came to UNM in 1995 as a graduate assistant coach for the Lobos’ football team and assisted with the instruction of quarterbacks and wide receivers under then head coach Dennis Franchione.
 
Prior to New Mexico, Fox served as the wide receivers coach at his alma mater, Drake University, from 1992-94 and helped the Bulldogs to a combined record of 22-7. He broke into coaching as a graduate assistant at Drake in 1990, where he helped with the instruction of receivers and served as the academic liaison for the football team.
 
A native of Garden City, Kan., Fox earned his associate of arts degree from Garden City Community College in 1988 and completed his bachelor of arts degree in biology from Drake in 1990. He received his master’s of science degree in higher education from Drake in 1994.
 
As a student-athlete at Drake, he was a two-year letterwinner for the Bulldogs from 1988-89 and was voted the most valuable defensive back by his teammates in 1989. Fox also excelled in the classroom, receiving the Drake Academic/Athletic Excellence Award in both seasons. He transferred to Drake after spending two seasons on the GCCC football team in 1986-87.
