Malcom Hardmon begins his first season on Head Coach Kirby Moore’s staff, being named the director of football athletic performance. Hardin had previously spent the previous three seasons working with Moore on the Missouri football staff.
Hardmon arrives in Pullman after spending the previous four seasons as an assistant director football strength performance at Missouri. The year prior to Hardmon’s arrival, the Tigers went 6-7 during the 2021 season. Since that time, Missouri has compiled a combined 35-17 record, with two 10-plus win seasons and four-straight bowl game appearances.
Prior to his time at Missouri, Hardmon spent the 2021 season as associate director of strength and conditioning at Western Kentucky. That season, the Hilltoppers posted a 9-5 record, including a win over Appalachian State at the Boca Raton Bowl.
Hardmon arrived at WKU with over four years of experience coaching collegiately, having been at Auburn University from 2017-20. He earned two degrees from Auburn: a bachelor’s in Fitness, Conditioning and Performance, with a minor in sports coaching, as well as a master’s in Adult Education.
Hardmon served as a graduate assistant athletic performance coach with the Tigers from January 2019 to January 2021. He also worked as a strength and conditioning intern for the Auburn women’s basketball team since June 2018 and as an operations supervisor for campus recreation and wellness center since August 2017.
Prior to working at Auburn, Hardmon was a mixed martial arts coach at Kage Fit in Opelika, Ala., from September 2014 to November 2016.
Hardmon is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and a certified FRC mobility specialist. He earned certifications for reflexive performance reset levels one and two, as well as first aid and CPR. He was also a licensed MMA fighter in Alabama and Tennessee.
He received his bachelor’s degree in physical activity and health from Auburn and his master’s in adult and continuing education and teach from Auburn.
