Ty Murphy begins his first seasons on Head coach Jake Dickert’s staff, serving as a defensive high school scout after being named to the position in the spring of 2022.
Murphy arrives in Pullman have spent the 2021 season as a football recruiting graduate assistant as West Virginia University, helping the Mountaineers to an appearance in the 2022 Guaranteed Rate Bowl against Minnesota.
Prior to West Virginia, Murphy spent one season at his alma mater, Dixie State University, where he served as a defensive quality control coach. Playing the 2020 season in the spring of 2021, Dixie State opened the season with a 26-14 upset of No. 22 Tarleton State and closed with a 60-0 victory over Fort Lewis.
Murphy played one season (2019) at Dixie State, collecting five tackles, in nine games as a defensive back. He arrived at Dixie State after two seasons at Snow College, where he helped the Badgers to an 18-4 record in two seasons and was a NJCAA Academic All-American in 2017.
