Jimmie Bunting begins his first season on the WSU staff, having spent the previous three years at McNeese State.
At McNeese State, Bunting was elevated to Director of Strength and Conditioning in 2021 after spending the previous two years as the Associate Director.Â
Bunting began his coaching career at Colorado State in 2015 then interned at two Big Ten schools: University of Wisconsin and Ohio State University in 2016, and 2017, respectively. He returned to Colorado State in 2017 as the Sr. Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach for football from 2017-2019. While there, he earned a Master’s Degree in Adult Education and Training.Â
Bunting attended Concordia University in Nebraska where he graduated in 2014 and was a two-year football letterwinner. He earned a bachelors degree in fitness studies.
Bunting attended Johnson Brock High School and lettered in football, basketball, track, baseball, and power-lifting. He was All State Football, East/West Nebraska All Star Football Game participant, 2008 power-lifter of The Year, 3rd Place Nebraska State power-lifting 2006.
