Cameron Ward Earns National Accolades after Five-Touchdown Game

PULLMAN, Wash. (September 26, 2023) – Washington State quarterback Cameron Ward picked up a couple national accolades Tuesday, named the Walter Camp National FBS Offensive Player of the Week, the Maxwell Award Player of the Week, the Davey O'Brien National Quarterback of the Week and The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award National Player of the Week.

Monday, Ward was also named the Pac-12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week, The Reese's Senior Bowl Offensive Player of the Week and the College Football Performance Awards National Performer of the Week. The Earl Campbell Tyle Rose Award recognizes the tope offensive player in division who was born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played in Texas.

In Saturday's 38-35 win over No. 14 Oregon State, Ward completed 28-of-34 pass attempts for 404 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions, and also rushed for a touchdown. The junior's completion percentage of 82.4 percent was the seventh-best completion percentage in WSU single-game history and completed 19 of his first 20 passes, including 14-straight completions to close the first half, giving the Cougars a 28-14 lead. Ward, from West Columbia, Texas, connected with Kyle Williams on a 63-yard pass TD on the second play from scrimmage, the longest pass in his WSU career.

According to Pro Football Focus, Ward had the third-best quarterback grade in the country, best in the conference, and fourth-best passing grade in the country last weekend.

Ward has the most pass attempts in FBS this season without an interception (141 attempts) and ranks among the Top-10 in total offense (2nd, 1498), passing yards (3rd, 1,389), passing yards per game (3rd, 347.3), passing touchdowns (4th, 13) and passing efficiency (9th, 187.6).
