PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State football's Brennan Jackson and volleyball's Kalyah Williams have been named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for September 2020.
A redshirt-sophomore for the Cougs' football team, Jackson has made the most of his time on the Palouse as he is looking to complete his undergraduate degree in Business Management/Innovation & Change in just three years before pursuing an MBA at WSU. While off the field, he has been an active member of the WSU Black Student-Athlete Association while also being a member of the football leadership council. On the field, Jackson saw action in the first two games of the 2019 season before suffering a season-ending injury. While the injury ended his playing season it allowed him to focus on classes and also on producing his own podcast, 3Cents Podcast.
An integral part of the Cougs' NCAA Tournament team in 2019, Williams enters her third year at WSU as a redshirt-sophomore in 2020. Getting involved off the court, she is a member of the Black Student Athlete Association and the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. She has also spent time as a Peer Academic Counselor, making sure her fellow Cougs also find success in the classroom. In her own work, Williams is pursuing a degree in communications. In her first year on the court, Williams played in 57 sets producing 80 kills, 29 digs, and 20 total blocks.Â
Each month Washington State Academic Services honors a male and female student-athlete that demonstrates commitment to academics while participating in their sport.
