PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington States women's golf's Elodie Bridenne and track and field's Troy Gingerich have been named the Academic Services Student- Athletes of the Month for May 2020.

Finishing her four-year career as a Coug, Bridenne proved herself on the course and in the classroom after coming to the Palouse from Rennes Cedex, France. Earning her degree in international business and finance with a minor in Spanish, the French native graduated with honors after posting a 3.82 GPA. She is a three-time Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar and two time Pac-12 All-Academic honoree having earned the awards every season of eligibility. On the course, Bridenne improved her scoring average in each of her four seasons on the course, playing her final collegiate tournament at the Juli Inkster Meadow Club Collegiate before the rest of the spring season was canceled.

A senior pole vaulter from Sparks, Nev., Gingerich split his time at WSU not only as a student-athlete but also as a standout cadet in the Army ROTC. Gingerich was named a Distinguished Military Graduate and earned magna cum laude with a degree in history and a minor in military science with a 3.76 GPA with an eye on joining the Army's Special Forces. Participating in both indoor and outdoor field events, the senior earned both MPSF and Pac-12 All-Academic honors while also earning a spot on the WSU President's Honor Roll. For all of his work, Gingerich was invited to be a guest speaker at the Athletics Council's Dining with Deans night. This past indoor season, Gingerich twice took home top-three finishes at Idaho while adding another fourth place finish at the Bronco Invite in Boise.

Each month Washington State Academic Services honors a male and female student-athlete that demonstrates commitment to academics while participating in their sport.
