PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State University Director of Athletics Pat Chun announced Monday that Todd Barbour and Zach Margolis have joined the Cougar Strength and Conditioning staff. Additionally, Bennett Askew, Shawn Deeds and Brandy Wiser have been elevated within the athletic department

"We are excited to welcome Todd and Zach to Washington State Athletics," said Chun. "The importance of these positions cannot be understated and both Todd and Zach bring a tremendous skill set that our student-athletes will thrive under."

Barbour joins the Cougars as assistant athletic director for strength and conditioning after spending the previous 11 years as the head strength and conditioning coach for Olympic sports at the University of Arkansas. There his programs captured 36 Southeastern Conference titles and five national championships. At WSU, Barbour will oversee the performance training for all WSU sports with the exception of football and men's and women's basketball.

Margolis arrives at WSU as the head basketball performance coach having spent the past year as assistant athletic director of strength and conditioning at St. Mary's College, directing all facets of performance development for the men's basketball program. Margolis will work directly with both men's and women's basketball programs at WSU in all facets of the teams' physical development.

Within the athletic department, Deeds has been elevated to senior associate director of athletics, capital planning, events and facility operations, while Askew and Wiser each were moved to assistant athletic director for business operations roles.

"Our athletic department has made tremendous strides in the past year and that is a tribute to so many within our staff who want this best for this university," said Chun. "Bennett, Brandy and Shawn have been great examples of this and have earned these promotions through great effort, leadership and teamwork."

Deeds has been a part of Cougar Athletics since 1991, starting as a student-athlete and most recently as a department administrator since 2012. That year he moved from football operations to the role of associate athletic director for events and facilities, managing all operations at Cougar Athletic facilities, including gameday events. He now adds the coordination of all athletic department capital planning projects.

Askew joined Cougar Athletics as the business contracts and fiscal manager in November 2017. His current duties include financial administrator for several sport programs and department units, contract administrator for all non-personnel contracts, and is the athletic department liaison to the Attorney General's office, Trademarks and Licensing, Purchasing Department and Public Records.

Wiser is a 2003 graduate of WSU and has been a member of the athletic department staff since 2008. She has day-to-day management and oversight of business operations, fiscal management of the unit and unit budgeting. Additionally, she prepares financial reports while overseeing and managing financial operations, transactions, and services.
