Cougar Athletic Fund Dedicates Joe Tucci Jr. Performance Center
September 07, 2016 | WSU Athletics, Cougar Athletic Fund
Prior to the Cougars' football game against Eastern Washington, the Cougar Athletic Fund was privileged to welcome CAF members Gary and Amanda Tucci and their family back to WSU, and thank them for their $1 million contribution for the naming of the Joe Tucci Jr. Performance Center inside the Cougar Football Complex.
WSU President Kirk H. Schulz and Director of Athletics Bill Moos joined the CAF in expressing WSU Athletics' gratitude to Gary, Amanda, and the Tucci family for their generosity.
A 1979 WSU graduate in business management and today the CEO of Potelco, Inc., Gary credits his late older brother, Joe Jr., for bringing him to WSU, and recognized his influence and love of the Cougars by naming the performance center of the football team in his honor.
"I didn't know what I wanted to do," Gary said, looking back to when he was 19 years old. "I was not planning on going to college but Joe was a senior and talked me into coming here. I loved it.
"As I got more into business and successful he taught me how to give back," Gary continued about the influence Joe Jr., had on his life. "We lost him in 2000. This is a great legacy for him and his family."
And as Gary was with his family for the naming ceremony, he was thrilled to once again return to WSU, as he does every year as season ticket holder since graduating.
"I love the Cougs. It's part of my family."
