Cougar Offense Leads The Way in First Fall Scrimmage

LEWISTON, Idaho – Washington State closed out its nine-day stay in Lewiston with a 90+ play scrimmage at Sacajawea Junior High School in front of a few hundred fans Sunday afternoon. The offense passed for seven touchdowns, ran for four while the defense recorded seven sacks.

Redshirt-junior quarterback Luke Falk finished the day 12-of-17 for 108 yards and one touchdown while redshirt-freshman Tyler Hilinski went 9-for-14 for a team-best 124 yards and four touchdowns. On the ground, redshirt-junior running backs Jamal Morrow and Gerard Wicks each rushed for a score, Hilinski scrambled for a touchdown while Robert Lewis also scored on 14-yard scamper.

Senior River Cracraft led all receivers with five catches including two scores while freshman Renard Bell snagged four passes along with a touchdown. Lewis also caught a touchdown pass along with senior John Thompson, sophomore Kyle Sweet and sophomore Brandon Arconado who each recorded scores.

The defense had a number of timely pass breakups and added seven sacks led by two from redshirt-sophomore Nick Begg. Redshirt-junior kicker Erik Powell converted on all three of point after attempts and capped his day with a 52-yard field goal.

The Cougars continued fall practice Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at Rogers Practice Field.
