Mike Leach Named George Munger Coach of the Year Semifinalist

SOUTHAMPTON, Penn. – Washington State Football Head Coach Mike Leach has been named a semifinalist for the George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year Award, Maxwell Football Club President Ron Jaworski announced Friday.
Leach, in his fourth season at WSU, is one of 18 semifinalists for the award which will be selected by the MFC National Selection Committee. Leach has led Washington State to a 7-3 record, its best start since the 2003 campaign, its first national ranking (No. 24) since 2006 and is bowl eligible for the second time in the last three seasons. The Cougars, picked to finish fifth in the Pac-12 North prior to the season, are 5-2 in conference play, own the nation's top passing offense (414.4) and have registered road wins over Rutgers, Oregon, Arizona and No. 18 UCLA as well as a home victories over Oregon State and Arizona State.
Semifinalist voting for of the Maxwell Football Club Collegiate Coach of the Year award will begin on Monday, Nov. 23 and close on Monday, Dec. 7. The finalist round will include the top three coaches as selected in the semifinalist round. Finalist voting will open Dec. 8 and run until Dec. 20. The winner will be announced on Dec. 21.
The formal presentation of the George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year Award will take place at the Maxwell Football Club's National Awards Gala on Friday March 11, 2016 at the Tropicana Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Eligible voters include Maxwell Football Club members, NCAA Head Football Coaches, Sports Information Directors and selected national media. Dan Mullen of Mississippi State University was the 2014 winner of the award.
