Hall of Fame
Doug Gibb was part of the Washington State swimming program for more than three decades. He competed for the Cougars in 1940-41 and was the team point leader as a senior while swimming the 100, 200 and 440-yard freestyle. Gibb took over coaching duties in 1942 and led Washington State to a Pacific Coast Conference Northern Division title. He mentored the Cougars for 32 seasons, earning the distinction of dean among the PCC and Pac-8 Conference coaches. Gibb was the recipient of numerous coaching honors and the Cougars’ swimming facility was named in his honor.
