CULVER CITY, Calif. - Any list of the top goalkeepers in the country heading into 2018 has to include Washington State's
Ella Dederick and
TopDrawerSoccer.com's list of the top-10 'keepers in college soccer does just that. Dederick has turned heads with her abilities in goal over the last few seasons and enters her final year at WSU as one to watch among the nation's best. Dederick is one of two Pac-12 'keepers to make the list along with Arizona's Lainey Burdett.
Last season, Dederick led the Cougars to the third round of the NCAA Tournament. In the postseason, Dederick took her game to another level, shutting out No. 8 UCF in the opening round while earning a shootout victory, including three stops, over No. 20 Tennessee in the second round. She earned Third Team All-Pac-12 honors after finishing the season with 11 shutouts second-most in WSU history, second-best in the conference and ranked ninth in all of Division I. In addition to her play for the Cougars, Dederick was named to the U-23 Women's National Team, picking up a 1-0 shutout of the Chicago Redstars during the 2018 Thorns Spring Invitational in Portland, Ore.
Dederick and the Cougars begin the 2018 season Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. against Seattle University at home in Pullman.
