SAN FRANCISCO – Nineteen members of the Washington State University women's rowing team earned Pac-12 All-Academic accolades, commissioner Larry Scott announced Tuesday.
Eight Cougars were named to the first team, including seniors and three-time honorees,
Ellie Burg (3.56, psychology),
Jenna Mangiagli (3.69, human development) and
Emily Morrow (3.55 GPA, criminal justice). Other first team members include junior and second-year honoree
Paige Danielson (4.00 GPA, electrical engineering) and sophomores and first-year honorees,
Ella Cowan de Wolf (3.73, undeclared),
Ivy Elling Quaintance (3.77 GPA, undeclared),
Renee Kemp (3.90 GPA, undeclared) and
Kamila Ondrackova (3.65 GPA, undeclared).
Six other members of the WSU rowing team earned second team honors; senior and first-year honoree
Kristel Tohu (3.35 GPA, political science), juniors and second-year honorees
Sara Brevick (3.39 GPA, human development) and
Taija Thompson (3.62 GPA, kinesiology), and first year honorees, junior
Jess Brougham (3.48 GPA, criminal justice) and sophomores
Linnea Davison (3.44 GPA, psychology) and
Hannah Welzbacker (3.55 GPA, science communication).
Rounding out the Cougar honorees were five that received honorable mention, including second-year honorees, seniors
Codi Swenson and
Emily Thomson and junior
Grace Arnis, as well as first year honorees, sophomores
Rosalina Torcivia and
Sue Yu.
Washington led the way with 21 honorees, followed by WSU's 19. Stanford and USC each had 17, while California and Oregon State had 15 and UCLA had 14 honorees. Washington State's eight first team honorees marked the most on that team, followed by Stanford with six.
To be eligible for selection to the Pac-12 academic teams, a student-athlete must have a minimum 3.0 overall grade point average, compete in a minimum of 50 percent of competitions, and be in at least her second academic year at the institution.
