Women's Golf Set To Compete in Silverado Showdown

THIS WEEK: The WSU women's golf team will compete in their final tournament before the Pac-12 Championships this weekend. The Cougars will travel to Napa, California to compete in the Silverado Showdown, hosted by Oregon and Colorado.

THE TOURNAMENT: The tournament will take place at the Silverado Resort on the north course. The course plays at a par-72, with a total of 6,201 yards. 54 holes total will be played, with one 18-hole round each day. Teams will tee off Sunday and Monday at 7:45 a.m. from the 1^st and 10^th tees. Tuesday will begin with a shotgun start at 8:00 a.m. The lowest four scores will make up the team score for each day.

THE FIELD: The Cougars will have a chance to compete against multiple Pac-12 competitors, including Arizona, Arizona State, Cal, UCLA, Stanford, USC, Oregon, and Colorado. Northwestern, Pepperdine, Purdue, San Jose State, Texas, UNLV, Wisconsin, and Tulane will complete the rest of the field.

REPRESENTING WASHINGTON STATE: Competing for the Cougars are seniors Alivia Brown and Bree Wanderscheid, junior Maidon Odiorne, sophomore Marie Lund-Hansen, and freshman Emily Baumgart.

LAST TIME OUT: The Cougars took tenth place in the ASU/PING Invitational on March 25^th. The Cougars carded their lowest round of the tournament on the final day with a combined 294(+6), bringing their three-round total to 886(+22). Alivia Brown was the low scorer for the Cougs, just missing the top-10 with an overall even 216. Sophomore Marie Lund-Hansen tied for 19th with an overall of 218(+2).

COACHING STAFF: The team is led by ninth-year head coach Kelli Kamimura, who led the women's golf team to a conference-championship team record for the lowest three-round and single-round totals at the 2016 Pac-12 Championships…WSU alumna Emma Betland is entering her third season as assistant coach…Betland golfed at WSU from 2010-2013.
