PULLMAN, Wash. – Washington State track and field's Marty Munyon and Jordyn Tucker have been named the Academic Services Student-Athletes of the Month for March 2021.
A senior on the men's track and field team, Munyon will graduate from WSU with a degree in sport management after posting a 3.51 GPA two years on the Palouse. After transferring from Spokane CC in 2019, Munyon immediately went to work to help those around him as a PAC Counselor while also acting as the Director of Social Media for Intramurals. Additionally, he has volunteered at the Sky Hawks children's sports academy in Spokane teaching youth sports and life skills for kids aged 4 to 14. Most recently in competition, Munyon threw the hammer 49.92m at the Whitworth Essential Invite during the outdoor season while producing a 14.51m Weght Throw at the UW Preview during the indoor season.
A senior sprinter for the women's track and field team, Tucker is set to graduate with a degree in biology while posting a 3.44 GPA. In addition to her major plan of study, she is working on a pair of minors in communication and psychology as she plans to use her extra season of eligibility to continue her educational pursuits. Tucker has been an active member of SAAC and is a Social Chair for the Black Student Athlete Association. Additionally, she is the secretary for the Young Women's Christian Association and the VP/Treasurer for Xi Psi Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Tucker has also started her own skin-care business "Sun-Flwr" during the pandemic. After graduation, Tucker plans to enroll in a master's entry program for nursing and become a nurse practitioner with the hope to become a neonatal nurse practitioner. On the track, Tucker, along with her relay partners took home the 4x100m win at the USC Trojan Invitational. As a junior, she was named to the Pac-12 All-Academic Honorable Mention team during the outdoor season while also earning All-Academic honors.
