PULLMAN, Wash. – Emily Baumgart, Elodie Bridenne, and Marie Lund-Hansen have each signed a National Letter of Intent to play women's golf at Washington State University, beginning next fall, Cougar head coach Kelli Kamimura announced.
"We are very excited to announce the signing of Emily Baumgart, Elodie Bridenne, and Marie Lund-Hansen,” Kamimura said. “All three bring a high level of competitive experience as well as a deep love of golf and WSU. They fit well into our culture and we can't wait for all three of them to begin their Collegiate Careers at WSU next fall."
Baumgart, a two-sport athlete who has lettered in basketball and golf, is a senior at DeSales Catholic School in Walla Walla. This year, she was named to the Girls Junior America's Cup Team (GJAC), competed in the 2015 Junior World Championships and won her third-straight WIAA State Championship. Baumgart led the Fighting Irish golf team to back-to-back State titles her sophomore and junior seasons. During her junior year, she was named to the all-conference and all-State basketball teams. Her brother, Ryan, is a junior on the WSU men's golf team.
French golfer Bridenne graduated in September 2015 from CNED Institut de Rennes. She recently won the Grand Prix de Valgarde in 2015 and the Grand Prix d'Ozoir in 2014. Bridenne finished second at the 2014 ANNIKA Invitational Europe in Sweden, one of the qualifying events for the 2015 PING Junior Solheim Cup. She won the Coupe de France Dames in 2013 and was a member of the French team that finished second in the 2013 European Girls' Team Championships.
Lund-Hansen, a native of Aabenraa, Denmark, is a senior at Aabenraa Statsskole and will graduate in the spring of 2016. She is a current member of the Danish National Team and represented Denmark in the 2015 European Ladies' Team Championships. She competed for Team Denmark, which placed second in a field of 15 teams, at the 2014 World Junior Girls Championship. Lund-Hansen won the Danish International Lady Junior Championship in 2014 and was selected to play at the Total International Belgian Juniors competition.
The women's golf team returns for the spring season Feb. 21-22, at Peoria, Ariz., for the Westbrook Spring Invitational.
