PULLMAN, Wash. – Milan Acquaah and Jeff Pollard have each signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball for Washington State University, head coach Ernie Kent announced Wednesday.
Milan Acquaah (6-2, 195, Guard, Pasadena, Calif./Cathedral HS) is beginning his second season at Cathedral HS after spending one and a half years at Pasadena's La Salle HS and a semester at Chino Hills HS. As a junior at Cathedral HS, Acquaah averaged 19.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists. He earned open division first team all-CIF honors as a junior, as well as Cal-Hi Sports All-State Junior First Team accolades. He helped lead the Phantoms to the regional playoffs in 2014-15 as his team finished 22-8. He also was selected to the 2015 Jordan Brand Kings of SoCal roster (Los Angeles), the 2015 California All-Star Classic, the 2015 Nike Global Challenge (Team Pan-Africa), and the 2015 Pangos All-American Camp. He was a 2013 MaxPreps Freshman All-American at La Salle HS.
Jeff Pollard (6-8, 235, Forward, Bountiful Utah/Bountiful HS/Impact Academy) enters his first season at Impact Academy at Las Vegas in 2015-16, after graduating from Bountiful HS in 2015. At BHS he led his teams to back-to-back State championships as a junior (2013-14) and senior (2014-15). He led the Braves with 22 points and 5 steals in the 66-54 victory over Kearns HS in the title game his senior year as he averaged 16.0 points and 9.0 rebounds a game during the season. Bountiful HS posted a 22-6 mark in 2014-15. As a junior, Pollard averaged 9.5 points and 7.6 rebounds (fourth-best in division 4A). He's a two-time Deseret News and Salt Lake Tribune 4A All-State honoree, earning first team accolades as a senior and third team and honorable mention, respectively, as a junior. He was also named to the 4A State All-Tournament team as a senior and to the Coaches' 4A All-State First Team. Pollard was a region 6 honorable mention as a sophomore in 2012-13.
The Cougars open the 2014-16 season, Friday, Nov. 13 at home against Northern Arizona. The game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tip-off at Beasley Coliseum.
