CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Eight members of the Washington State University women's rowing team were named 2018 National Scholar-Athletes by the College Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA), the organization announced Monday.

Ellie Burg,
Jenna Mangiagli, and
Emily Morrow, juniors
Paige Danielson and
Taija Thompson and sophomores
Ivy Elling Quaintance,
Renee Kemp and
Kamila Ondrackova were each named CRCA National Scholar-Athletes, each having maintained a cumulative 3.5 grade point average or higher throughout their careers. To be eligible, each rowing student-athlete must be in her second, third or fourth year of eligibility and rowed in a minimum of 75 percent of the spring races in an NCAA boat.Â
Burg (Bellevue, Wash.) is a human development major with a 3.56 GPA, Mangiagli (Hermosa Beach, Calif.) is a human development major with a 3.69 GPA and Morrow (Regina, Saskatchewan) is a criminal justice major with a 3.55 GPA. Mangiagli and Morrow are both receiving the honor for the third-straight year, while Burg is a CRCA Scholar-Athlete for the first time. Danielson (St. Cloud, Minn.) and
Taija Thompson (Victoria, British Columbia) are both receiving their second scholar-athlete honors. Danielson is in the honors college and is majoring in electrical engineering with a 4.00 GPA, while Thompson is a Kinesiology major with a 3.62 GPA. In their first year of eligibility for the honor, Elling Quaintance, Kemp and Ondrackova are picking up their first honors. All three are undeclared, as Elling Quaintance has a 3.77 GPA, Kemp has a 3.90 GPA and Ondrackova carries a 3.65 GPA.Â
The Cougars concluded the 2018 season finishing 14th as a team at the NCAA Championships held at Nathan Benderson Park at Sarasota, Fla., May 25-26.
