The senior went four-over on the first day of regional play.

SAN FRANCISCO - Teeing off the first round of the 2018 NCAA Regionals at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco, senior Alivia Brown closed out strong to end the day at four-over par, posting a 76 Monday afternoon. Brown's 18-hole total put the senior into a tie for 61st overall, but just five strokes back of the top-10. Playing in her third NCAA Regional, Brown has ample time with 36 holes still to play over the next two days to push her way into contention for a berth into the NCAA Championships.

In similar fashion to her start to the 2017 NCAA Regionals, Brown hit the course with a few jitters, dropping four strokes in the first three holes before righting the ship and getting her day on track. Despite the rough start, the fourth-year Coug kept her composure as she took aim at the 505-yard, par-5, fourth hole. Taking advantage of the first scoring hole on the course, Brown was able to snare her first birdie of the day. She would finish off the front-nine with a 41, five-strokes over par as she made the turn onto the backside of the course. Putting the front-nine behind her, Brown got into a groove after a bogie on 11 dropped her to six-over on the day. Immediately, she was able to pick back up a stroke, this time taking advantage of the shortest par-5 on the course, the 480-yard, 12th hole. From there, Brown played par golf until sticking her tee shot on the par-3, 17th, that led to her third and final birdie of the day.

With a 35 on the back-nine, Brown set herself up for day two of the regionals when she will look to carry her momentum with her to make a run up the leaderboard. After the first day of action, three golfers are tied at the top of the standings with Andrea Lee (Stanford), Brittany Fan (Colorado), and Mariel Galdiano (UCLA) each posting a 66, -6 through 18 holes.

Brown is set to tee-off the second round of action at TPC Harding Park Tuesday morning at 8:55 a.m. from the 10th hole alongside of Darian Zachek (New Mexico) and Christine Danielsson (UC Davis).
