PULLMAN, Wash. – Lauren Burckel signed a National Letter of Intent to join the Washington State swimming team next season, head coach
Tom Jager announced Monday.
Burckel is out of Eldorado High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Burckel earned four varsity letters in swimming under coaches Quint Seckler and Maureen Abeita. The Albuquerque, New Mexico native was a four-time New Mexico state champion in the 100 breast. As a freshmen, Burckel earned an All-American honors in the 100 breast, clocking in at 1:03.54. Burckel set the state record and earned All-American in the 100 breast her sophomore and junior years. Burckel also won the state title in the 200 IM as a junior. As a senior, Burckel won the state tile in the 100 breast and the 200 IM. The Albuquerque, New Mexico native earned All-American honors after finishing the 100 breast in 1:01.90 at the New Mexico AA State Championships. At the 2018 Western Speedo Sectionals, Burckel placed 10th in the 200 breast and 25th in the 100 breast.

Tom Jager. "I think she brings a great attitude to the pool. She's already fast, but we hope to get her faster. She seems like a good fit for us."
Hailing from Albuquerque, New Mexico, Burckel swims for Lobo Aquatic Club under head coach Doug Forbes.
