TEMPE, Ariz. - Junior
Grant Cole made his first ever top-five finish in the ASU Individual tournament at the Papago Golf Course on Sunday. Cole came out hot to start the third round, marking even pars and two birdies in the front nine to score a 34(-2). He added one stroke in the back nine to close out the tournament with a 70(-1), adding to his three round score of 213(E). Cole tied for fourth place with three others, replacing his 2017 7
th place finish in the Itani Quality Homes Collegiate as his best career finish.
Competing at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, the Cougars closed out the ASU Thunderbird Invitational in 15
th with a three round score of 885(+33). The team went +16 for the day, coming in with a 300.
Senior
Derek Bayley went two over par in the third round, adding a 73 to his overall score of 216(+3). Bayley tied for 34
th place with six others, including No.3 Viktor Hovland of Oklahoma State.
Senior
Zach Anderson came in with a total of 223(+10) to tie for 58
th overall. Just one stroke back was junior
AJ Armstrong, who tied for 64
th with a three round score of 224(+11).
The Cougars will now focus their attention on the Pac-12 Championships, which will conclude their 2017-2018 season on April 23-25 at Rolling Hills Country Club in Rolling Hills Estates, California.
