SAN DIEGO – Washington State University rowing saw all three crews advance to the Grand Final in each of their respective races at the San Diego Crew Classic, Saturday, on Mission Bay at San Diego.

Kateryna Maistrenko) started the day in preliminary racing for the Jessop-Whittier Cup. In the first of two heats, WSU placed third to Pac-12 opponent, Cal, which crossed at 6:31.627 to win the heat. Placing second was Victoria, with a time of 6:41.110, followed by WSU which finished at 6:43.710, with all crews qualifying for the Grand Final. Texas, USC, and UCLA, finished first, second, and third, respectively, in the second heat of the day to take the other three spots in the six-crew Grand Final. The race for the Jessop-Whittier Cup will be at 10:32 a.m., Sunday.

Renee Kemp) placed second behind Pac-12 challenger USC, in the third preliminary heat of the Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Memorial Trophy. WSU finished at 6:49.816, which was just edged out by USC at 6:48.005. Both crews qualified for the Grand Final, along with Cal and Oklahoma in the first heat, and Texas and UCLA from the second heat. The race for the Jackie Ann Stitt Hungness Memorial Trophy is scheduled for 9:44 a.m., Sunday.

Sue Yu) won its preliminary heat of the Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup. The Cougars finished at 7:36.967, followed by USC at 7:38.724, with both crews advancing to Sunday's Grand Final. Rounding out the Grand Final are: Cal and Oklahoma from the first heat, and Texas and UCLA from the second heat. The Grand Final of the Karen Plumleigh Cortney Cup will take place at 8:24 a.m., Sunday.
