PULLMAN, Wash. - Finishing out his 2018 recruiting class, head coach
Todd Shulenberger has announced the signing of six new Cougs Wednesday, Feb. 7 during the national signing day. Joining the Cougs in 2018 are Gracie Armstong (Broomfield, Colo.), Ebony Clarke (Richmond, British Columbia), Elaily Hernandez-Repreza (Huntington Park, Calif.), Mykiaa Minniss (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Molly Myers (Oceanside, Calif.), and Hailey Smith (San Jose, Calif.). The six join Kelis Barton (Renton, Wash.) who enrolled at Washington State in January and began training with the Cougars for the spring season. All seven will join a Cougar squad fresh off an appearance in the third round of the NCAA Championships last fall.
"We have been waiting a long time and I am super excited to announce this 2018 class," said Shulenberger. "This year's class is based in Colorado, Washington, California and Vancouver BC. This group of young ladies had a ton of high level success in the club scene and some with National team programs. Our standards here with the soccer program have been raised and these players will add to our high academic standards, competitive spirit, athleticism, hard work rate and are proven winners. I can't wait to watch them grow and make a huge impact to our team. Gracie Armstong (Midfielder/Forward - Broomfield, Colo.)
Earned three letters at Legacy High School under head coach Luke Meadows… as a sophomore, earned Second Team All-Conference Honors… As a junior, earned All-American Honorable Mention Honors… Lead Colorado in points with 65, with 25 goals and 15 assists… Earned Golden Boot Award… All-State First Team… All-Conference First Team… A member of Colorado Storm under coach Danny Bills… Placed second at National Finals in 2015-16… Also played with Real Colorado in 2017-18 as part of the US Soccer Development Academy... Ebony Clarke (Midfielder - Richmond, British Columbia)
Attends RC Palmer Secondary School in British Columbia, Canada... Graduate of Renton HS, Barton was a three sport standout as she excelled not only on the soccer pitch but also on the cross country trails and the track...On the pitch and as a member of the Crossfire Premier soccer club, Barton led her team to a national runner-up finish last season in the Elite Clubs National League (ECNL)...Final-four participants in each of the last three seasons in the ECNL, she guided her squad to back-to-back conference championships in 2016 and 2017 to earn their spot in the postseason...In addition to club play, Barton has been a regular invitee to Washington's Olympic Development Program the last three years...Off the field, Barton has proven to be one of the top runners in the state of Washington after leading Renton HS to three state titles in cross country in four years. A two-time MVP in cross country, Barton took her talents to the track as well where she was a two-time state champion in the 800 meter, winning the title twice in three years in both 2014 and 2016.
